OAKLAND, Calif. (June 4, 2014) -- Turnitin, the leader in originality checking and online grading, issued an open call for presentation proposals from members of the educational community for the second annual Student Success Week, which will be held October 6-10, 2014.

Virtual conference "Common Standards, Uncommon Feedback,"
to examine impact of feedback, technology on student learning

Student Success Week is a free virtual conference featuring a series of webcasts for educators that explore the use of web-based tools to provide feedback and enhance student success. This year's conference carries the theme, "Common Standards, Uncommon Feedback," and will feature a debate on the pros and cons of Common Core, plus an interactive student session. Additional sessions will explore the challenges that institutions face in measuring student success and capturing impactful feedback, and how technology can be used to support student learning.

The call for proposals is now open and the deadline to submit is August 15, 2014. Proposals accepted for the conference will guarantee speakers an opportunity to present during one of the Student Success Week daily webcasts. Selected presenters will also receive a cash honorarium, plus $100 towards a school project.

"Learning is a dynamic process, and feedback is a critical component of helping students shape ideas and improve their performance," said Jason Chu, education director at Turnitin. "More than 3,000 educators joined last year's Student Success Week to discuss how technology can impact feedback, and we're looking forward to expanding this year's events with a timely, important debate and opportunities for students to join the conversation."
